Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery. The Role: The primary goal of the Module Leader is to provide leadership and technical expertise to your area. The role will be responsible for technical liaison with our customer and management and delivery of work content executed by TTL with particular emphasis on the utilization of offshore design teams. The Liaison Manager will build a design / engineering culture dedicated to standardized processes that create efficiencies within TTL’s aspiration of “One World of Global Delivery.” Area of Responsibility A key element of this role is the ability to interface directly with the customer and their supply chains to ensure delivery of coordinated engineering designs are to the required standards. Key Responsibilities & Tasks Managing the offshore coordinator to ensure that all company internal processes are followed as well as all hardware and training are provided. Set key tasks & responsibilities for offshore coordinator & team Members. Communicate with customer technical contacts. Ensure the work content is clearly extracted from customer and communicated to TTL teams to ensure the delivery of robust, fault free designs to customers specification/expectation. Ensure efficient access to CAD and engineering standards provided by the customer. Manage CAD compliance issues in accordance with TTL & customer procedures. Recognise, support and reinforce the customers’ appropriate Engineering standards. Propose system enhancements and product concept developments for a global TTL. Working on multi-disciplinary projects. Supporting the issue resolution and escalation process to maintain on-time-delivery across all programmes and customers. Deliver targeted training initiatives and mentoring to technical staff. Creation of standardised processes. Build efficiencies in the business to deliver a cost-saving. Set-up and support the management of complete data sets approaching Gateways. Facilitate Virtual DMU Reviews including Virtual Build. Knowledge / Experience Educated to degree level or equivalent experience Well organized and methodical in problem solving Strong project management and customer relationship building skills. Strong technical skills in Body Engineering (seating). Good interpersonal skills and communication skills Experience managing personnel in multiple locations. Close, Near and Offshore Ability for multi-tasking and willing to change mind-set / discipline on cue to deliver key tasks and responsibilities Proactive and capable of making decisions Passionate about continuous improvement Experience within automotive product development Good knowledge of CAD systems in order to manage/direct team rather than hands-on-design skills required. Good working knowledge of data management procedures of given CAD/PLM systems Experience of providing work content to Design teams (ideally experienced in working with offshore teams) Excellent understanding of industry-standard packages for CAD (principally Catia V5, NX, DigiBuck, Team Center, VPM etc.) Excellent knowledge of MS Office software package Working knowledge of web-based systems.
