Become one of our 34 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.
Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meetups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.
Location: You will be working in the department Market Development, BU Onshore and the position is located in Hamburg, Berlin or Mainz.

As a Trainee - Onshore Development you recognize yourself in the following:
- You have gained an academic degree in a field such as urban planning, geography, renewable energies or similar
- Be a multi-skilled self-starter with high levels of energy and commitment to deliver
- Embrace meeting local stakeholders to ensure best possible local support
- Have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to function well in a team environment
- Willingness to share experience and be able to build and develop long-term relationships with all stakeholder groups
- Have an aptitude for problem-solving and experience in driving complex projects forward to achieve set objectives
- Fluent in German, written and spoken, and a command of English
You are our ideal trainee if you are a recent graduate with an academic degree and have maximum one year of work experience, or you graduate before September 2024. You are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. And of course, you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.
Your role as a Trainee - Onshore Development
In your job you will be introduced to onshore development activities, actively support in the realization of projects and get the chance to take ownership in first projects. In a team you will drive projects forward from feasibility study to financial close and thus actively contribute to fossil free living.
Your daily activities:
- Identify green-field project opportunities
- Actively engage with local stakeholders (landowners, authorities) with aim to secure sites
- Drive required studies and layout considerations towards a permit
- Prepare decision material for internal stakeholders
