The Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics (MPIEA) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, investigates the attentional, cognitive, and affective mechanisms of aesthetic perception and evaluation. In the context of a large-scale cooperative research project (Cooperative Brain Imaging Center CoBIC with Goethe-Universität Frankfurt and Ernst Strüngmann Institute for Neuro science) we invite applications for a Faculty Member (m/f/x) (W2, Tenure Track) in the Field of Imaging Neuroscience with a specialization in high-field (7T) neuroimaging The institute and its cooperation partners within the CoBIC are looking for a person with an excellent publication record, ready to build up and take on the leadership role of a 7T MRI lab within a brain imaging center that also will house two 3T MRI scanners as well as MEG, EEG, and facilities for other approaches to cognitive, computational, and systems neuroscience. The research topics are open but should include an active research program in optimizing high-field imaging as well as substantive research interests in topics that complement the community of neuroscientists at the cooperating institutions (e.g., music, auditory perception, action and skill learning, speech and language, high-level vision, clinical neuroscience). The position requires leadership of a team. Therefore, information regarding successful supervision of students and team leadership skills must be provided. Given the broad interdisciplinary nature of the MPIEA and the CoBIC, we would also like to see evidence of prior interdisciplinary and international projects and publications. Applicants should hold an advanced degree in physics, engineering, or neuroscience, or another closely related field, and have a record of independent research at the postdoctoral level. The position is initially limited to six years. Subject to a positive evaluation, the candidate will subsequently be employed on a permanent basis. The faculty member position is equivalent to an assistant / associate professor position (German salary level W2) including an independent budget for personnel, running costs, investments, office space, and use of the other research infrastructure of the institute. The candidate is encouraged to acquire additional grant funding (national, European) to broaden their scope and resources. The starting date is negotiable.
