Professorship of Visual Art Bard College Berlin seeks to appoint a professor of visual art, with the period of appointment to begin in September 2024. The candidate will contribute to course offerings and supervision of students' artistic work within an undergraduate degree program in Artistic Practice and Society, which fully incorporates contemporary transformations of art production and provides the opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary artistic practice and artistic research within the framework of a liberal arts education. An initial contract of 4 years will be offered, with a view to eventual tenure, granted on the basis of excellence in teaching and artistic work, as well as contribution to the development of the college. Appointment requirements are governed by 100 of the Berlin University Law (Berliner Hochschulgesetz). Bard College Berlin's academic calendar comprises two semesters, each of 14 weeks. Professors teach 2 courses in one semester, and 3 in the other (with each course consisting of 2 sessions of 90 minutes per week). Candidate profile The successful candidate should have a record of internationally-recognized achievement in one or more areas of visual media-preferably film, video, photography-or in interdisciplinary use of these media. They should also have significant teaching and some administrative experience in a university context.
