Our European headquarters are in Munich, Germany, and we have affiliates in 13 European countries and Canada For our site in Pfaffenhofen/Ilm we are seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position: Senior Manager (m/f/x) Process Simulation in Pharmaceutical Technology The position: In this position, you would work with pharmaceutical scientists (pharmacists, engineers, etc.) to develop understanding of processes used in all types of dosage forms manufacturing and analytics. You would apply computational tools not only to support process design and optimization, but also to predict final product quality attributes. Leading a team of simulation/data scientists and supervise them in scientific matters and project management is one of your key responsibilities. You would continuously search for or identify opportunities for process simulations (mechanistic, physics-based, data-driven) within development to production scale processes. You are supposed to work independently to define problem statement/objective and develop/apply computational tools to solve the problem. Preparation of detailed timelines including milestones for execution is considered to be a major task. Collaboration with relevant scientists is needed for experimental studies in order to generate model input parameters and for validation of simulation results. You would participate in project teams and workstreams to find the issues and challenges and develop plan to solve them through process simulations. Searching for new technology and state-of-the-art techniques in process simulations relevant to pharmaceutical processes is an integral part of your work. Also being highly motivated to learn new and advanced topics/computational tools and progressing into other new areas of expertise is a prerequisite. Leading a team of simulation/data specialists, supervising and managing simulation projects Planning and assigning resources (manpower, infrastructure, etc.) for simulation projects Learning and implementing state-of-the-art innovative experimental and simulation techniques related to pharmaceutical unit operations Developing prediction models based on various computational tools/methods such as computational fluid dynamics, discrete element method, population balance models, flow-sheet models, data-driven approaches, statistical techniques, etc. In depth results evaluation with statistical tools, and finding the cause(s) that help(s) in addressing the challenge(s) Working with external partners e.g. CMOs, universities/institutes across the globe, etc. Writing and reviewing reports, authoring research articles / publications, presenting results internally, externally at international scientific conferences Preferably PhD in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Technology/Engineering related study programs with 4 to 6 years of experience Prior experience in simulation methods such as CFD, CFD-DEM to solve for multiphase systems is a must Experience in hybrid modeling approach to combine physics-based models and data-driven approaches is an advantage Knowhow in application of such simulation tools for processes related to pharmaceutical development/manufacturing/analytics would be an added advantage Knowledge in statistical tools for design of experiments, data evaluation/analysis Ideally some theoretical and/or practical knowledge of pharmaceutical processes Good communication skills in English Experience in leading a team of scientists, and working with international team members would be added advantage Reliable, responsible, people-oriented, independent personality, and especially willing to work together with an international team Excellent Benefits Work-Life Balance Growth and Development Health and Wellbeing Support Working at Daiichi Sankyo: Working at Daiichi Sankyo is more than just a job - it is your chance to make a difference and change patients' lives for the better.
